We work in partnership with charities, community-based organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) and companies so that we can create customized projects that fit each micro reality. Our starting point involves every group and actor in the design and implementation of a project with social impact in the future.
FOS gives training in Photovoice methodology. Being trained and inspired by PhotoVoice.org we disseminate this methodology among Portuguese speaking community. We also facilitate this methodology in English and Italian. Our training focuses on visual literacy, participatory photography, facilitation skills and how to do it, the importance of captions, Ethics and image amongst other subjects.
We design participatory photography and video projects in partnership with other charities, NGO’s, and organizations interested in promoting positive social change through photography. We have been developing projects evolving in community building and cooperation & development arena namely in vulnerable communities in some neighbourhoods of Lisbon and its outskirts; we also worked some countries of Africa (Guinea Bissau, St Thomas, and Prince Islands).
Workshops for students and staff. We use the Portuguese official curriculum as a basis to give visual literacy and photographic skills to students. We use creative and simple tools to bring awareness, presence and focus so students can relate better to each other. We also work with teachers and staff so they can learn and develop visual tools to be used in the classroom.
We mix mindfulness with photography so people may stop and mute. We encourage people to use photography to re-think in their life priorities so they can rediscover their life purpose.
We invite people to celebrate friendship by revisiting their memories together and using photography as clay to mold all the interactions during the workshop.
